This too shall pass

A deep wave of old loneliness
arose in me today
and began to steal my breath
its rising weight unbearable
like a subtle form of death

And as I began to panic
so did my lungs my blood my mind
but my heart whispered
breathe in
and my heart whispered
breathe out
and my heart whispered
be kind
to the lonely one who dwells inside you
let him breathe
let him speak
let him live

And the wave it rose through me
and the ocean whispered to me
forgive
forgive
forgive
