Pilgrim
sitting on a bench beside the Botley Road
weighty rucksack by my side
reluctant
to begin this journey
takes boots of
faith
and
failing faith
then faithful
plod
to a waiting place beyond
the city’s pull
and then?
a scallop shell
a piece of cardboard
a marker pen
an outstretched thumb
