May Daze

Ah
merry May
you bountiful beast
provider of such a dizzying feast
of leaf
of flower
of early seed
of fecund tunnels of oaken green
of hawthorn’s sweet and spunky scent
all irrefutable evidence
of Life’s original blessing

of the valleys’ rippling, chuckling streams
of roses unfurling within our dreams
of hedgerows bursting through the seams
of a land of a million, joyful greens

All hail the faithful King of May!
All hail his fertile Queen!
