Grandfather Time
for over seven years now
I’ve watched the sunrise
slowly pendulum
across my horizon
from inland midsummer
to midwinter’s wide open sea
tick
tock
tick
thus seesaws solar time
syncopating
with the daily rhythms
of the moon’s tidal rhyme
tumbling down the cliffs
at autumn’s equinox
climbing back up them
as spring unwinds its clock
tock
tick
tock
a year swings by again
tick
tock
tick
steadily counting
up
or down
my three score and ten
